Park Hyatt Kyoto

パーク ハイアット 京都

A 70-room Higashiyama hotel with no club lounge, where Globalists get a Western breakfast for two at Kyoto Bistro and a daily one-hour champagne pour in The Living Room; room upgrades to garden-terrace or pagoda-view rooms are common, while the Park Suite depends on a Suite Upgrade Award and rarely-free inventory.

Excellent

Western breakfast for two at Kyoto Bistro; Japanese extra

Reports from 2022, 2023 and 2024 all had breakfast at Kyoto Bistro, the street-level all-day restaurant.

Included: a continental buffet plus one hot dish from the menu (one report was offered a second dish on request).

The Japanese breakfast catered by Kyoyamato is not covered: reported surcharge ¥3,000 before tax/service (about ¥3,795 all-in) or ¥3,300 (2023); must be pre-ordered, quantities limited.

The hotel applies the two-adult limit strictly: a 2024 report paid ¥6,050 per morning for a third adult; a 2024 family report had two adults and two children covered.

Policy change: 2021 reports describe the Japanese breakfast and in-room breakfast as included for Globalists; this ended by 2022.

No lounge; daily 17:00–18:00 champagne hour instead

Room upgrades common; Park Suite mostly via SUA

Globalist reports regularly show one- or two-category room upgrades: King with View (2022), Garden Terrace (Oct 2023, Oct 2024), View Deluxe King after a two-step upgrade (c. 2023), pagoda-view twin (2021).

The Park Suite is the standard suite for upgrades; a 2022 report missed it because both were occupied.

Suite Upgrade Awards: confirmed in a Feb 2024 report (twin booked, Park Suite received); never cleared for a five-night Oct 2024 family stay; a 2021–22 New Year SUA landed the garden-facing Park Suite type, not the pagoda-view type.

Hotel has 70 rooms including 9 suites, so suite inventory is thin, especially in peak seasons.

Early check-in / late checkout

No Explorist reports found

Standard checkout is 12:00; no Explorist report was found.

Globalist · Top-tier

Good

16:00 usually, but upgraded rooms may be capped

2021 reports list 16:00 checkout for Globalists.

One Globalist couple's upgraded room was capped at 13:00; the hotel moved them to a standard king for 13:00–16:00.

Suite stays can lose it: a c. 2023 Park Suite guest had to move out at 12:00 because the suite was rebooked, and a 2021–22 SUA was confirmed on the condition of no late checkout.

Kids & bed-sharing

Good

Kids 12 and under reportedly exempt from extra-person fee

A Feb 2024 report says a third guest costs ¥10,000 per night, with children 12 and under exempt (single report).

A rollaway bed was provided for a 3-year-old in an Oct 2024 family stay.

Globalist breakfast covered two adults and two children in that Oct 2024 family stay; the Japanese breakfast remained extra.

JTB lists children's slippers, yukata and pyjamas, free stroller loan, limited bed guards, and babysitting/childcare.

There is no swimming pool; the bathhouse is gender-separated and communal.

Covered for up to two children with a Globalist (2024 family report); cash child price unconfirmed

  • Free bed-sharing age as an official rule; the 'children 12 and under exempt from the ¥10,000 extra-person fee' figure comes from one 2024 blog.
  • Whether children may attend the champagne hour.
  • Current Japanese-breakfast surcharge (reports range ¥3,000 + tax/service to ¥3,300) and Kyoto Bistro breakfast hours (sources differ).
  • Whether SUAs can now confirm the better (pagoda-view) Park Suite type; a Nov 2025 reader comment on OMAAT was not treated as evidence.
  • Explorist upgrade and late checkout experience (no Explorist reports found).
  • Any 2026 stay report with full Globalist detail; the 2026 posts fetched did not describe benefits.
