Hyatt Regency Kyoto

ハイアット リージェンシー 京都

A Globalist stay here means a reliable free breakfast at Cafe 33 and a daily free drink at the Touzan Bar instead of a club lounge, but with few premium rooms upgrades are short and uncertain, and the hotel closes for good on 9 May 2027.

Excellent

Free at Cafe 33: buffet or Japanese set

Globalist reports from 2024, winter 2025 and Feb 2026 all had breakfast at Cafe 33 at no charge.

Choice of a Western buffet with one cooked egg dish ordered at the table, or a Japanese set served at the table with buffet juice and fruit and free refills of rice and miso soup (Dec 2025, Mar 2026 reports).

Japanese sets are limited in number; a 2025 guest believed they need booking the night before.

Globalists were brought juice (and coffee) on arrival at the table without asking (2024, 2026 reports).

Busy at peak times; queues reported, so going early helps. Hyatt's programme rule covers two adults plus two children per room.

Club lounge access

Explorist · Mid-tier

Not offered

No club lounge in the hotel

The hotel has no club lounge (confirmed in 2026 blog reports and by FlyerTalk regulars).

The Concierge Suite on the official site is a planning desk, not a food-and-drink lounge.

Good

Daily free drink at Touzan Bar instead

In place of a lounge, Globalists get one free drink per day at the Touzan Bar (B1F) or the restaurants; a Feb 2026 guest found almost anything counted, including Veuve Clicquot, apart from top-end whiskies.

Not always mentioned at check-in; guests are advised to ask at the bar (FlyerTalk reports).

During peak cherry blossom season 2026 the hotel set up a temporary Globalist-only lounge in the former Japanese restaurant on 1F, with breakfast, daytime soft drinks and an evening drinks-and-food hour; this was a seasonal one-off.

Limited

Small upgrades, mostly short midweek stays

A Dec 2024 reviewer wrote that upgrades had become rare for every status level because the hotel is usually full.

A long-time regular (Jan 2026) said premium rooms and suites are few; upgrades came on one- or two-night stays midweek or in low season, never on three nights or more.

Typical upgrade in older reports is one category to a garden-view Deluxe room (2021).

One sponsored (PR) blog stay in 2026 received a suite; this is not representative of member treatment.

Regulars report that Suite Upgrade Awards are not accepted because there are so few suites (2024).

Labelled a resort; 4 p.m. not guaranteed

hyatt.com lists the hotel as a "Resort Property" (checked Nov 2026), and a Dec 2024 reviewer also described it as classed as a resort; at Hyatt resorts the Globalist 4 p.m. checkout depends on availability.

No recent stay report states the checkout time actually given.

Kids & bed-sharing

Good

Under-13s share free; young kids eat free

Children 0–12 may share the parents' bed at no charge (Ikyu listing).

Breakfast at Cafe 33: free for ages 0–6, half the adult price for ages 7–12 (Ikyu listing).

The gym is closed to children under 16 (official site); there is no pool.

Standard rooms are small (about 28–33 m²) and the website may not show rooms for four; FlyerTalk regulars advise emailing the hotel, which is often more flexible than the booking engine (Jan 2025).

Free bed-sharing
Up to age 12
Kids' breakfast
Free for ages 0–6; half the adult price (adult ¥4,500) for ages 7–12

Hyatt Regency Kyoto will close for good on 9 May 2027

The owner, ORIX Real Estate, announced that the hotel stops operating on 9 May 2027. No successor hotel was named in the notice. Globalists who like its free breakfast and Touzan Bar drink have until then.
